Non-Profit Leadership Series

As the nonprofit landscape changes, current leaders are facing the questions:

The answer may be right under your nose among your current staff. The way to discover untapped leaders is by thinking strategically by investing in talent development and succession planning.  The non-profit leadership series features workshops from program development to evaluation, ending with a general leadership course.  They may be offered in a series or as stand-alone modules.
 

NPL1: Program Development

Summary: These “how to” modules are designed to take participants through the progression of program development.  Participants will leave the class with a comprehensive framework for program development as well as tools and templates to ease the process of program start up and development.

  • Module 1: What’s the Big Idea?  Developing Program “Theory” using Logic Models
  • Module 2: Why Should We? Determining Community  Need and Linking it to Strategic Plan
  • Module 3: How Are We Going to Pay for it?  Identifying Potential Funding Streams
  • Module 4: Can we do it ALL?  Developing Partnerships & Leveraging Resources
  • Module 5: All Systems GO!  Implementing Your Plan

Learning Objectives:  As a result of this training, learners will:

  • Articulate the process of a Community Needs Assessment
  • Explore funding options (government, private, fees for service)
  • Learn strategies for developing working partnerships
  • Understand how to create an implementation plan

Intended Audience:  Leadership Staff, Program Management, Grant Writers, Future Leaders

Duration: 4-hours per module, 20-hours total 
 

NLP2: Program Management – Bringing It All Together

Summary: Excellence in program management depends on the ability to plan for success, lead and inspire teams, and to be agile in a rapidly changing environment.   Using a training simulation exercise developed by Human Solutions, participants will be required to practice their problem solving, planning and innovation skills through the various rewards and challenges of program management.

Learning Objectives:  As a result of this training, learners will:

  • Develop an increased understanding of program management competencies.
  • Experience and strategize solutions for potential program challenges through simulation.
  • Create a personal development plan to extend their learning and develop their individual program management competencies.

Intended Audience:  Program Management; Emerging Leaders

NLP3: Program Evaluation – High Performance Results & Quality

Summary: This experiential workshop covers development of program evaluation indicators and measures that allow you to assess not only organizational performance, but also participant outcomes. We will discuss using positive and negative outcomes to plan for program improvement and enhancement. Key staff will be included to participate in this customized, interactive training. The end result of the training will include not only increased program capacity, but also development of an evaluation plan ready for implementation.

Learning Objectives:  As a result of this training, learners will be able to:

  • Differentiate between organizational performance and participant outcomes.
  • Understand the linkages between quality and results.
  • Learn and understand proven tools for tracking results
  • Create a customized evaluation plan.

Leadership Development – The Future Starts Now

Summary: Human Solutions’ customized Leadership Development training is designed to meet the varying needs of training participants.  Different models of leadership will be reviewed to develop a shared definition of Leadership. Organizational leadership strategies such as professional development planning, succession planning, board development, and practical leadership skills will be covered as well as how to develop current and emerging agency leaders.

Summary:  Typical team-building training consists of activities focused on fun, connection, and teamwork in an attempt to “fix” a work environment laden with poor morale, reduced productivity, or employees who just can’t get along. Human Solutions believes that real team-building comes from systems change focused on shifting organizational culture.  Effective teams must be shaped over time.  This training will offer practical solutions and long-term strategies for organizational development and team-building.

Learning Objectives: As a result of this training learners will:

  • Understand the components of teamwork & develop a shared, working definition of “team.”
  • Learn, understand, and develop strategies for working through the stages of team development.
  • Collaborate to develop an organizational (or departmental) plan for team-building with short and long-term measurable objectives.
